THE DOLPHIN GROUP

We Need Your help to save Cspan-2 and Book TV

Without public discussion Comcast moved Cspan-2, a public access station, to an
“entertainment group” part of their digital programming, which requires an additional
monthly payment of $14.99. This change represents an additional charge of
approximately $180 a year. This charge burdens all espeacially  the home bound, the
disabled, and the poor. This action holds Cspan-2 hostage and hidden from  public
use.

Since its inception in 1986 Cspan-2 has been funded by the cable industry and is
operated as a non-profit organization by the National Cable Satellite Corporation.
Their Board of Directors consists primarily of representatives of the largest cable
companies.  The Board, from the beginning, has committed to maintaining Cspan-2
with out additional charge as part of the basic programming offers.

Cspan-2 is the only TV station dedicated to presenting non-fiction authors and books,
and may be best known as the Book TV station. Cspan-2 dedicates the entire time to
non fiction books and authors from Saturday 6 a.m. until 6 a.m. Monday.

We wish to have Comcast rescind this decision (as they have in other areas of the
country).
By lending your name to this effort you will substantially contribute to this
effort.

We are asking all persons who have a commitment to maintaining a broad education
and learning base through reading to join us.

THIS IS NOT BLUE SKY

We must prevent Comcast from:

- Charging an additional $14.99 a month for Cspan-2;

-
Hiding Cspan-2 in a digital "Entertainment Group" to justify
the charge;

- Rejecting individual requests to return
Cspan-2 to part of the
Basic Programing Schedule, where it has been without
additional charge since 1986;
.
- Compromising an agreement that has existed with all
carriers since 1986;

We will attract sufficient following to effect Comcast thinking.  We depend
upon you and other people who feel strongly about books and want to
maintain  a continuous flow of  broadly based information sources.
Cspan-2
is one of those sources.

Other Locations have banded together to
negotiated significant reductions in fees:  as low
as $1.00 a month; and in one case $0.00 per month
(nothing) for one year.
